Hey, fly friends! Spring is here, which means itβs time to refresh your wardrobe with light layers, playful patterns, and comfy-but-cute pieces. Today, Iβm diving into plus size spring fashion from Torrid, including some coquette-inspired pieces that are giving whimsy and charm. Letβs break down the hits, the misses, and everything in between!
First up, letβs talk basics with a twist. I started this haul in Torridβs super soft sweetheart tee and pull-on wide leg pant. The tee? Absolute perfection. Itβs ribbed, has a flattering sweetheart neckline, and a hint of lace trim for that subtle touch of plus size coquette fashion. It’s the kind of top you can wear under a cardigan, with jeans, or even tucked into a cute skirt.
The wide leg pants, however, are a different story. While theyβre lightweight and perfect for warm weather, the fit just didnβt do it for me. They bunched weirdly around the crotch and felt too baggy below my curves. If you love a flowy, boho vibe, these might work for youβbut for me? Itβs a no. The good news? The elastic back waistband is super comfortable, so theyβre definitely wearable if you like the style.
Now, can we take a moment for this cherry cardigan? It is everything. Soft, fuzzy, and those embroidered cherries? Chefβs kiss. What I love most is that the detailing continues on the back, which makes it feel more thoughtful and stylish. Too often, cardigans leave the fun on the front, but not this one!
I grabbed mine in a 3X for that cozy, oversized fit. Bonus: the sleeves are slightly long, but not so much that Iβm drowning in fabric. Itβs the perfect lightweight layer for those crisp spring mornings or breezy afternoons.
Alright, these luxe slim boot jeans were a heartbreaker. I sized up (because I know Torrid denim can play games), but they were still too tight. Somehow, the length was perfect, but the thighs? Nope. It felt like a denim mystery I couldnβt solve. If you carry weight in your thighs, proceed with caution.
Thankfully, the vegan cashmere pullover surplice sweater swooped in to save the day. Itβs cozy, flattering, and comes in the prettiest pink. Plus, the deep V-neckline gives you room to layer a cute bralette underneath for a flirty touch. This sweater is an absolute win in the plus size spring fashion department.
Maxi Ruffle Chiffon Dress: Coquette Dreams Come True
If youβve been waiting for that one showstopper, here it is: the maxi ruffle chiffon dress. Yβall, this dress is the definition of plus size coquette fashion. Itβs covered in pink bows and strawberriesβa print I never thought Iβd see from Torrid, but I am here for it.
Not only is it adorable, but itβs functional. Stretchy straps, pockets (yes, pockets!), and a tie under the bust make it both comfortable and flattering. It twirls like a dream, which means Iβll be wearing it to every picnic, brunch, and flower field trip this spring.
Maxi Chalice Ruffle Strap Tiered Dress: Cute but Long
Next up is the maxi chalice ruffle strap tiered dress. It’s cute but I am not sure I love it. While the dress itself is comfy and has pockets, the length is a major issue. If youβre petite like me, expect this dress to drag on the floor unless you have a tailor on standby. Since I’m not in love with this one it will unfortunately be a return.
The maxi chiffon tiered dress has a beautiful patchwork pattern featuring different fabrics, adding a unique touch. While the design is eye-catching, the fit has a few quirks. The cups have a strange, pointy structure that doesn’t sit quite right, and the slip only goes partway down, making the bottom tier slightly sheerβespecially in bright sunlight. Additionally, the dress is cut very low in the front, which may be a concern for those wanting more coverage.
When I saw the mini sleeveless corset dress, I was excited. It was giving major milk maiden vibes, and I needed it in my life. And while I do love the cute bows and the soft, light fabric, the fit left me puzzled.
The corset detail just didnβt sit right on my bodyβit kind of collapsed under my bust. If you have a fuller belly, you might face the same issue. Also, itβs a little on the short side. If youβre taller, this might be a mini-mini on you. Cute? Yes. Practical? Debatable.
Letβs end on a high note with the sweetheart tiered midi dress. This one checks all the boxes: romantic, comfortable, and versatile. It reminds me of pieces youβd find at Ivy City Co., but with Torridβs signature plus-size-friendly design.
The tie-your-own shoulder straps are a sweet touch, and the tiered layers give it a breezy, whimsical feel. If you need a dress for a spring wedding, a fancy brunch, or even just a day of twirling through a flower field, this is the one. Plus, it fits right in with the plus size coquette fashion aesthetic.
