Plus Size Fall Fashion Trends 2021

Hi Fly Friends! Are you wondering what plus size fall fashion looks like this year post-pandemic? Me too! To start, I combined the Fall 2021 Trend Lists from Vogue, Whowhatwear, and InStyle to create a master list and linked my favs to show you which plus size fall fashion trends I’m most likely to be leaf crunching in this year. Fall activities deserve plus size fall fashion looks! These activities include carving pumpkins, apple picking, spooky movies at the drive-in, snuggling up in coffee shops, visiting your favorite book store trying every apple and pumpkin treat on the market, and much more! Sometimes it can be hard to fit trends into your everyday wardrobe, but I’ll give you styling tips along the way! Let’s get it going!

Fall Fashion Trend #1 Plus Size Leather Pieces

This trend moves away from the traditional leather moto jacket that is such a fall and winter staple piece and towards showcasing different shapes and silhouettes in the same classic leather. You can also go for brown or colorful leather looks. I included this wrapped layering piece, the turquoise midi skirt, and belted blazer best. I think all of these would look perfect layered over a white mock-neck or turtle neck with some chunky gold jewelry! The brown leather dress has functional buttons and can also be worn as a duster or layering piece. Eloquii is the place to be for all your leather (daddy?) needs.

Wear your leather looks to your local coffee shop to “get some work done,” aka scope out cuties and flirt with the barista while you watch youtube videos on your laptop.

Trend #2 Plus Size Tailored Layering Pieces

Plus size blazers, trenches, and peacoats babes! Anything with a tailored look is in this fall fashion season, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be tailored to your bod. Oversized is still in too, especially blazers! Layer these pieces over any and everything to put that finishing touch on a fall plus size look. The deep brown oversized blazer can also be worn as a dress for my fellow shorties! Pair this with black tights, black combat boots (budget friendly wide width option linked here,) and a slicked-back bun to showcase your inner neutral bad bitch.

Wear these layering pieces on a date to your local bookstore. Support a small business, meet up with a friend or love interest, and buy a book for the other person to read!

Plus Size Fall Fashion Trend #3 Moody Florals

We’ve all seen the dark academia trend produce some gorgeous looks over the past year, and moody florals are dark academia’s newest baby. Think cutesy witch, Gilmore Girls, and 90’s Anthropology. Florals for spring might not be groundbreaking to my girl Meryl Streep, but florals for plus size fall fashion definitely do it for me! Wear this trend in the form of a classic dress or a midi skirt paired with a french tucked sweater and wide width nude booties. Rock this trend with this bomber jacket to bring some color to a classic black look, or with this gorgeous sweetheart neckline top with off-the-shoulder puff sleeves. Pair this top with black straight-leg jeans, doc martens, and a wide-brimmed hat.

Moody florals belong at the apple orchard. I want to see that classic foot pop pose while grabbing at an apple with a basket in hand on my insta feed! If you go home and make an apple treat with your picks make sure to share because I am interested.

Trend #4 Living Room Disco

This trend is full glam! Vogue says to bring sequins, glitter, bedazzling, and metallics into everyday life. AKA “living room disco,” which I also think is a pretty bomb party theme, tbh. After two years of COVID craziness, I am definitely down to bring some sparkle into my day-to-day looks. The FTF x Patrick Starrr collab is perfect for this trend! Keep it glam grunge with the bedazzled ripped jeans paired with your favorite graphic tee. Rock the classic diva with the purple puff sleeve wrap dress. Play the club kid with the gold top paired with a black mini skirt and wide width boots, or give business casual some sparkle by layering this striped sequin dress with a blazer and pairing it with wide width nude heels.

This plus size fall fashion trend brings sparkles into every day, so wear these pieces to the haunted house or the corn maze. If you get lost your friends will be able to find you on account of the fact that you dress like a human disco ball. Problem solved!

Fall Fashion Trend #5 Plus Size Sweater Vests

It’s amazing how clothing pieces every TV and movie character is bullied for wearing in shows we watch growing up comes back as a fashion trend. Plus size fall fashion is no exception! Wear a sweater vest solo, over a button-down, over a dress, or a classic tee. I can’t tell you why these were ever considered out of style! I’m here for this professor vibe. I know plus size babes had trouble finding sweater vests at the start of this fall fashion trend, so don’t worry, I’ve got your back!

This plus size fall fashion trend is perfect for the drive-in! It’ll keep you warm and stylish in the bed of a truck lined with blankets and pillows in the cool crisp air. Pro tip: bring an air mattress for maximum comfort.

Plus Size Fall Fashion Trend #6 Plaid & Flannel

I almost stopped at five trends and then I thought, y’all deserve more! This one is a classic. This is a great example of a plus size fall fashion trend that somehow never goes out of style! For instance, wear a classic flannel with straight-leg jeans and white sneakers in a pop of fall color like this pumpkin orange number. Have a twirl-worth moment in this plaid dress with balloon sleeves and some nude booties or heels. Layer it up with the belted shacket, or wear this trend to work with the black plaid trousers. Plaid is also great for pattern mixing and looks great with the moody floral plus size fall fashion trend we talked about earlier.

Seriously, this trend screams pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch go-to, if you will. How can you possibly pick one pumpkin out of hundreds if you’re not dressed for the occasion? Exactly.
