Hi Fly Friends! Is it cold where you are? Temperatures are starting to drop and winter is on its way! I’ve put together my list of plus size winter fashion essentials to share with you. That means all of the coats, boots, sweaters, and accessories that you can handle. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be hard to find plus size winter fashion essentials. Basics can be hard to come by. I’m going to show you everything from basics to statement pieces in a variety of budgets, so let’s get started!

Plus Size Fashion Coats

Coats are one of the plus size winter essentials I get asked the most about! I completely understand the need to find the perfect plus size winter coat. We have all bought a blazer, jacket, hoodie, or button-down that doesn’t zipper, button, or close and chosen to say, “screw it” and just wear it open for the look. That method doesn’t cut it with your winter coat! It’s too cold for all that! I chose this gorgeous luxe faux fur coat from Fashion to Figure, a classic grey longline peacoat, a trendy turquoise windowpane puffer coat, this gorgeous colorblock beauty from Eloquii, and this classic beige funnel neck puffer coat for those of you who are braving below zero temperatures this winter!

Jackets & Shackets

Jacket and shackets are for my babes that get hot easily, live in warmer climates, or are just straight up here for this cute cozy trend. Again, the puffers are in, so I chose this red puffer jacket. Denim never goes out of style, so here’s a black sherpa-lined number for you. This olive green shacket has a bit of a blazer vibe for it can double as workwear! Finally, I made sure to include two classic shackets in lime green and buffalo check.

Wide Width Boots

This is another popular plus size winter essential! Wide width and wide calf boots can be hard to fine. Luckily, it gets easier every year to find these staples. I featured boots with tread, fashion boots, knee-high boots, and lug boots for you. I want to make sure there’s something for everyone! On the dressy side, we have the brown knee-high boots, the black heeled knee-highs, and the heeled snakeskin booties. In the middle, I chose the flat black knee-high boots with tread, the brown heeled lug booties, and the white pull on booties that are so trendy right now. On the practical everyday side, I chose classic black combat boots and white combat boots for you since white boots are so in right now! This way you can stomp through the snow in style.

Cold Weather Accessories

Having the right cold-weather accessories can make a huge difference in your comfort level in the winter! I know you may think that hats and mittens aren’t very stylish, but I’m here to prove you wrong! There are so many cute accessories out there right now for winter.

This pom pom hat comes with a built-in face mask that you can pull down when you enter a business. It’s so cute and so practical for these lovely COVID times. These hat and scarf or hat and mitten combos from Old Navy are perfect for gifts or for yourself this winter. I made sure to include a black and white set for my neutral babes and a rainbow set for my colorful Fly Friends!

If you want to talk luxurious, look no further than this gorgeous cashmere blanket scarf in hot pink. It comes in other colors and would make a wonderful bougie gift! Earmuffs are in! Pair this fluffy burgundy pair with a puffer coat and give off total snow bunny vibes. I rounded out this category with the trusty black beanie. This beanie comes in so many colors and at a low price so you can snag one to match any look!

Plus Size Fashion Tights

We have seen plus size tights companies blow up the past two years! There are more options than ever, and not just in black and nude. These Sheertex tights, I chose light blue, are said to be impossible to snag, even with your most pointy acrylic nails! Snag tights have become the go-to for fun colors and patterns like these tights in mustard yellow. Better Tights just launched a collab with Lucy & Yak to create these amazing flower print tights! You know you can always turn to Torrid for your basics, but I chose these cheetah print tights for a little pizazz. Last but not least, if you are out and about and get a run in your tights, if you need a pair for that night and don’t know where to look, Target has got your back. These classic beauties come in black and beige.

Sweaters

Obviously, sweaters are a must-have staple piece for winter. Add some bling with this pearl detail sweater in black, bring a pattern to the table with this houndstooth sweater, go for texture with the off-white ribbed confetti pullover, get luxe with this light brown cashmere number that comes in tons of colors, or add a pop of color with the mustard yellow cable knit. Whichever sweater fits your style you’ll be sure to keep warm all season long!

Winter Dresses

Winter dresses! I promise you that winter dresses are the way to go. Wear these with tights or leggings and you’ve got an instantly cute one-item outfit for winter. Any of these dresses can easily be dressed up or down and be worn for any of the special occasions that come with the winter months. First, this ruched long sleeve dress from Target has such a gorgeous unique pattern, compared to the classic and ever-trendy plaid long sleeve dress in navy blue. Of course, I had to bring it with the sweater dresses, so I chose this cream dress, the textured ruffle detail dress in beige, and the dark green balloon sleeve dress with functioning buttons. Unbutton this dress for a heavyweight duster cardigan moment. We love a two-in-one piece.

Winter Outdoor Gear

Outdoor and cold-weather sports clothing can be a nightmare to find for plus size people! For whatever reason, plus size fashion still rarely accounts for specific occasions and activities. Don’t let this make you feel like you can’t get out there and ski, snowboard, camp, and make a mean snowman! Listen babes, when I tell you that I scoured the internet I am not lying! At last, I found not one, but two pairs of snow pants, one in dark grey and one in plum purple, the perfect snow jacket for camping and cold-weather fun, thermal long underwear in a cute pattern for under the heavy stuff, and a pair of ski pants! Ski pants y’all! It’s a Fly Friends miracle!

Plus Size Fashion Cozy Loungewear

Loungewear rules! I don’t think that loungewear is ever going to leave the plus size fashion world after the past two years where we all realized that we can look amazing and be super comfy. I know I’m never giving that up! All of these pieces can easily be dressed up and worn out of the house as well. The black and white windowpane sweater set, the trendy terry knit tie-dye shorts and pullover, this gorgeous black loungewear jumpsuit that you could pair with heels and a blazer and wear to date night, the sage green quilted tunic, and this classic jogger and sweatshirt set in camel brown, one of the year’s hottest colors.
