Whether you are using your phone or DSLR there are a few handy gadgets I have picked up along my journey that will help you drastically up your photoshoot game! I even have things to help wardrobe organization and outfit changes as well as a portable fan to keep you cool and sweat free! Take a peek at these photoshoot essentials:
This little tool has been SO helpful when I need to take pictures of myself but I am on my own. It has also been helpful if I am with friends and we all want to be in a picture together. How it works is it connects to your DSLR and you get to set the intervals and amount of photos your camera takes. I like to do 3 sets of 10 photos to make sure I can capture lots of different poses and movement.
If you are out taking pictures of yourself then you will definitely need a tripod! This is great for either your DSLR or your phone so you have the option for either one you prefer. If you are on a shoot with a photographer you could even use it to set up your phone to capture behind the scenes video or record some quick short form videos while you are in your outfits.Β
Ok I know this one might seem weird but hear me out – lugging your bags around is SO exhausting. It doesn’t have to be though!! Just organize all your outfits and accessories into a bag like this and you can roll it from location to location for easy outfit changes!
Now this is a game changer! No longer do you have to worry about people seeing you change or cramping into your car to quickly put on an outfit. All you need to do is grab this little pop up tent out of its carrying bag and you’re good to go.
If you get warm easily or if you’re doing shoots in the summer then you need this fan! It has saved me from tapping out so many times. I am also someone who hets red and sweaty very easily so this helps a lot with that. It also can fold so it can be put on a table if you need to be fanned off hands free!
If you have an outfit that you need to stay wrinkle free I highly suggest these garment bags! My favorite part about them is that they have little zipper pockets so you can keep your coordinating accessories together and organized. I also love to use these when I plan matching outfits with my boyfriend so we keep our clothes together for each location.
These are the exact sandals I wear to every photoshoot and I couldn’t live without them. Having comfortable shoes makes such a big difference especially when you are wearing lots of boots or heels with your outfits. I seriously cannot recommend these enough!
I hope this photoshoot essentials list was helpful for you and that all your future photoshoots go as smooth as possible! There’s always the possibility something can go wrong on a shoot but at least with these essentials covered you should be able to keep hiccups to a minimum!
