Plus Size Fashion Predictions 2022

Fly Friends, the new year is upon us! 2022 is almost here, so I’ve compiled all of the popular fashion magazine’s lists for their 2022 fashion predictions, but make it fat. Plus size fashion has come such a long way! Now that we have brands that we can regularly turn to and trust to give us the new trends, I’ve put together the master list of the predicted plus size fashion trends for 2022!

Fringe

Fringe is in! After a year of 70’s inspired fashion and major yeehaw vibes, this trend makes sense. Glam it up with this gorgeous pink sequined fringe jumpsuit. This leather fringe wrap dress gives major boss babe energy along with this long-sleeved red number. We all know red is a power color, hence why redheads are the best *wink*. This white fringe-top jumpsuit feels like something Dolly Parton would wear, and you can never go wrong with that. Finally, the fringe-lined brown leather jacket. This can be worn with a glam look or be a great addition to a boho wardrobe worn with big flower patterns to showcase that 70’s influence.

Plus Size Corset Details

I have seen this romantic style all over TikTok! I feel like 2022 will take style inspiration from a slue of time periods, and that sounds so fun to me. Finally, I found a corset detail drape dress in size fat! this red beauty is sure to turn heads. I also included the black leather corset tank that can be worn by itself or as a layering piece, this amazing pink long sleeve velvet corset top with a sweetheart neckline (can you say, Princess Aurora?), this unique brown corset blazer, and a true plus size lingerie corset in classic black.

Y2K Vibes for Plus Size Babes

If you remember the Fall 2021 Trends blog post CLICK HERE, Y2K, bold colors, and color blocking were all on-trend. It makes sense that this trend would carry over into the upcoming spring plus size fashion season as the colors and patterns are brighter and bolder. If you were feeling the moody fall and winter vibes this year and weren’t feeling this trend, maybe try it out for spring and see how you feel! Y2K fashion always reminds me of dressing like a pop star or for the teen choice awards. I chose this pink glittery cut-out dress, the green faux fur collar cardigan, this butterfly printed dress, glittery pop-star pants with a flared leg, and this ruched velvet skirt in turquoise with a ruffle at the bottom.

Wide Width Loafers

Loafers are the shoe of 2022! I’ve seen so many blogs and articles about loafers making their comeback. I think it’s because they can so easily be dressed up or down and also worn to work. I chose a few different colors and styles all in wide-width! Seeing loafer-style heels is so awesome, so I chose this black sling-back pair and a classic nude in a croc texture to show you. I had to include a classic black pair, the yellow for a pop of color, this gorgeous blush pink, and then topped it off with the white mule-style loafers. Will you be wearing loafers in 2022?

Personalized Accessories

This is the trend I was least expecting, but am still pumped about it! Personalized accessories are making a comeback for 2022! I’ve definitely seen these more refined friendship-style bracelets around and I love that you can customize them to say whatever you want! The same goes for these cute hair clips and customized name phone case that comes in multiple colors and styles! This initial necklace would make a great gift for birthdays and wedding/bridal party gifts. Etsy is also a great place to look if you want to get customized accessories, so I included these tumblers and this gorgeous initial ring.

Hair Accessories

This trend really ties in with the Y2K trend. I feel like we moved away from visible hair accessories for a while and really stuck with bobby pins and lots of hacks went around about how to hide your ponytail elastics and things like that. No more! My Fly Friends know that I love to rock a headband, so I also added the link to this pack of 10 different knotted headbands for $17! Claw clips are super trendy right now so I included this three-pack along with the colorful geometric clips, this plaid hair scarf, textured scrunchies in colorful neutrals, and these awesome star clips that are just a little different from your typical butterfly clips but have the same vibe.

Textured Fabrics

Mixing and matching textures can do so much for an outfit! I love seeing so many plus size brands give us fabric variety and play with texture this year. We’ve got this super-soft teddy cardigan, fold-over leather pants in classic black, this gorgeous purple satin jumpsuit that comes in other colors, this textured velvet bell-sleeve dress, and the sequined jumpsuit with feather-detail sleeves! Mixing fabrics and textures all in one piece is so awesome and this jumpsuit is such a great find! Snag it before it sells out, which I’m sure will be soon!

Plus Size Blazers

Tailored layering pieces are another trend that is sticking around for the new year, but this time we’re focusing specifically on blazers! Blazers are one of my favorite layering pieces. Living in California, you want to layer but you don’t want to sweat your butt off, so blazers are the perfect answer to that dilemma. This 70’s inspired blazer is fab, along with the silver glitter blazer, the classic grey plaid, this new brocade blazer, and this cream-colored leather number.
