But why settle for just any tea outing when you can make it extraordinary by adding a dash of theatrical flair? That’s exactly what I did when I decided to channel my inner Glinda the Good Witch from Wicked for an afternoon of tea with friends. The key to dressing as Glinda is embracing sparkle, pink, and *drama*. But as a plus-size woman, finding the perfect outfit that fits and flatters can sometimes feel like a challenge. I wanted to create a look that not only captured Glinda’s iconic style but also allowed me to feel comfortable and confident throughout the day.

The Dress

For my look, I opted for a pastel pink tulle gown with layers of flowing fabric. It had just the right balance of whimsical princess vibes without being too over-the-top. A tea-length dress worked perfectly, as it was more practical for the setting while still giving me those fairy tale feels. The Shoes

While Glinda might float around Oz in heels, I knew I’d be walking and standing quite a bit, so comfort was key. I chose these block heels in the perfect pink color from Wydr which are made for folks who wear wide width. Not only did these boots keep my feet happy, but they also tied the whole outfit together without overwhelming it.

Glinda-Inspired Hair and Makeup

A true “get ready with me” wouldn’t be complete without hair and makeup! Glinda’s beauty look is as iconic as her wardrobe, so I wanted to bring her elegance into my styling.

Glinda Hair

While I don’t have the best hair styling skills, I was able to achieve a similar look using some small hair clips and hairspray. I sectioned my hair into small pieces, twisted and pushed them forward before clipping them down. Once I was happy with the look I sprayed some John Freida moisture barrier hairspray.

Once I was dressed and glammed up, it was time to focus on the details of the tea outing.

High Tea in San Diego

High tea is all about ambiance, so selecting the right location was key. We opted for a charming tearoom called Marlene’s Tea and Cakes.

What’s on the Menu

Marlene’s has delicious food and their November menu was one for the books! They also accommodate dietary restrictions and had vegetarian substitutes for one of my friends.
